All
Major Stakeholders
Every person who has a significant role in an individual's life
is encouraged to attend each individual planning meeting.
Adults are encouraged to attend their planning meetings, or
we find strategies to ensure user participation in the decision
making process.
This ensures we have a multiple perspective assessment of need,
and a join collaborative plan.
Family Links
We firmly believe that, just because an adult leaves the family
home, they do not leave the family.
Regular events and Partnership Days are held at Somerset Court,
and we facilitate visits by the adults to their family members.
A
Village Community
Residents receive the benefits of a village community whilst
integrating into the community for their social/leisure activities.
Emerson et al (1999), in a study of the comparison of life
offered by village communities and dispersed community housing,
found there was no significant advantage to living in a community
housing scheme. The correct level and skills of staff were
more significant factors than the actual setting.
Staff-resident interaction is purposeful and focused, promoting
community access and providing structured work and leisure
time in an appropriate, spacious, calm setting.
